The Brazil has been successful in its strategy to promote human development , combining social inclusion, promotion and guarantee of rights to economic growth. To achieve this result, there was an inter- alignment with involvement at all levels and spheres of government, including public companies .

As a consequence of this process, Brazil has taken, increasingly obligations to the international community, becoming more active in the South-South Cooperation Strategy (mechanism of joint development between developing countries in response to common challenges ), mainly through promoting transfer of sectoral capacities among developing countries.

One of the successful examples of Brazil relates to overcome extreme poverty and hunger. The country has already reached - and exceeded - more than a decade the first "Millennium Development Goals" : halve the number of people living in extreme poverty.

From the interest of the Brazilian government to share experiences in this regard , a program of cooperation with the United Nations Food and Agriculture was established, entitled "Programme for International Cooperation Brazil - FAO".

In this context, partnerships between public, the three spheres of government, regional and municipal institutions were established to encourage the holding of activities for the promotion of sustainable development. Actions are developed through the implementation of programs and projects to support agriculture - organic and family -, including environmental conservation, technological innovation, renewable energy, generation of employment and strengthening public policy.

The objective is to exchange experiences, especially with Latin American and African Nations, from the dialogue in favor of sustainable development. The Good Practices for Sustainable Development Platform is a result of the agreement signed between FAO , ITAIPU Binacional and the Government of the State of Paraná (Brazil), with a proposal to share and disseminate a set of replicable good practice initiatives (programs, projects, individual actions ) originally developed in the Western Region of Paraná (Brazil) and in the three states of southern Brazil.
